- Teach undergraduate and postgraduate students
- Develop course material for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching modules
- Attract external funding and provide research supervision to postgraduate students
- Provide expertise in the Functional Analysis, Abstract Algebra, Discreet Mathematics, Differential Geometry, or any other discipline in Pure Mathematics
- Perform teaching-related and departmental administrative duties
- Conduct research and publish results in peer-reviewed scientific journals
- Interact with relevant industry groups, government departments and independent research institutes to further the goals of the Department and of the University
- Participate in community services
- Provide academic leadership
- Demonstrated abilities to teach undergraduate students and supervise postgraduate students.
- Experience in teaching a diversity of students from multiple backgrounds at different academic levels.
- Proven research and publication record.
- NRF-rated or evidence that an application is likely to be successful within three years of appointment.
- A proven record of attracting external funding for research.
- Ability to work with and contribute to a team effort.
- Proven record or potential for providing academic leadership.
- Proven record of facilitating engagement and building networks.
- Minimum qualification is a PhD (Pure Mathematics) degree.
- Minimum of 3-7 years relevant working experience in an academic profile, including lecturing experience.
- Evidence of successful Post Graduate supervision and throughput.
- Evidence of participating and or leading in a research team or project.
- Research publications in accredited conferences and/or DHET accredited journals in related fields
- A comprehensive CV must accompany the application, together with a letter motivating why the candidate should be considered for the post.
- Candidates may be required to deliver a short lecture on an approved topic.
