Accounts Controller - Cape TownFull job descriptionVACANCY: ACCOUNTS CONTROLLER (CAPE TOWN)INDUSTRY: Clearing & Forwarding / LogisticsPRIME PURPOSE OF THE POSITIONContour Logistics is recruiting for an energetic, dynamic Accounts Controller to ensure the accurate and timely invoicing of services rendered to your allocated customers, as well as the authorisation and processing of supplier invoices and reconciliation of those accounts. It is critical to ensure complete recovery of all logistical disbursements incurred on behalf of customers and liaising with different internal and external parties to resolve any variances. This position will report into the Financial Manager.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESEssential duties and responsibilities include the following:Accounts Receivable Overall financial management of assigned customer accounts and to gain an understanding of your clients’ invoicing requirements by building a good relationship with them. Liaise with the export documentation department on a regular basis in order to receive export files on time for invoicing. To finalise invoicing on a weekly basis and within the stipulated deadlines. To ensure that invoicing is accurate, and all relevant costs are recovered. Attention toadditional non-standard charges is required. In order to achieve this, it is essential to obtain a basic understanding of the company’s business processes and the industry it operate in, as well as all steps in the supply chain. Report any non-recording of supplementary charges by the logistics team on the system. Monthly and weekly invoices, statements, and reports to be sent to clients and query handling. Resolve file cost variances (WIP queries) within stipulated deadlines. Archiving of invoices and statements. Limit credit notes and supplementary invoices to a minimum. Assist fellow team members when required or on leave.Accounts Payable Ensure timeous receipt of invoices and statements from suppliers. Managing, coding, authorising, and capturing of invoices and credits. Review invoices and credits for accuracy and validity of the information and rates applied, and that all VAT requirements for a valid tax invoice are met. Process supplier invoices and reconciliations within the stipulated deadlines. All reconciling items to be resolved monthly. Resolve WIP queries within the stipulated deadlines. Prepare remittances and reconciliations for weekly supplier payments where applicable. Archiving of supplier invoices, reconciliations, and statements.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Matric (Grade 12) Previous experience in an accounts payable/receivable environment. Any form of financial qualification will count in your favour.KEY COMPETENCIES REQUIRED Analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail. Flexibility to work in both accountants payable/receivable environment. Acumen for figures. Good time management and organisation skills. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Good skills with MS office software are essential (Excel & Office specifically).
