- Proficiency in legal software and office applications, including Microsoft Office Suite, document management systems, and legal research tools.
- Strong understanding of civil litigation procedures, court rules, and filing requirements.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize assignments effectively in a deadline-driven environment.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in document preparation and proofreading.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, attorneys, and staff.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and also collaborate effectively as part of a team.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work extended hours when necessary to meet deadlines.
- Degree or certificate in legal studies or related field preferred.
- Provide comprehensive administrative support to attorneys specialising in civil litigation.
- Manage and maintain attorney calendars, including scheduling court appearances, depositions, meetings, and deadlines.
- Prepare, draft, and format legal documents such as pleadings, motions, briefs, subpoenas, and correspondence.
- Coordinate document production and discovery processes, including organizing, indexing, and filing case files.
- Assist in preparing for trials, hearings, and arbitrations by compiling exhibits, witness lists, and trial binders.
- Conduct legal research using online databases and other resources to gather relevant case law, statutes, and regulations.
- Communicate professionally and promptly with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, and vendors.
- Manage and prioritize incoming communications, including phone calls, emails, and mail, ensuring timely responses and follow-up actions.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in handling sensitive information and client matters.
- Collaborate with other legal support staff to ensure efficient workflow and provide backup assistance when needed.
