Our client in the Hospitality industry is currently looking for a Head Chef , in Dunkeld, Johannesburg.Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for controlling and directing the food preparation process, creating menus, ensuring exceptional front of house experiences, and managing a small team of kitchen and housekeeping staff.
  • Menu Creation:
  • Develop menus and create new dishes to ensure variety and quality.
  • Roll out menu creations and maintain a standardized recipe book.
  • Plan meals weekly and seasonally to meet the needs of our clients and staff.
  • Food Preparation:
  • Oversee the food preparation process and ensure dishes meet quality standards.
  • Approve dishes before serving and address any issues or defects.
  • Prepare daily breakfast for executives.
  • Stock and Equipment Management:
  • Coordinate budgets and manage food inventory needs.
  • Conduct monthly stocktakes and arrange repairs when necessary.
  • Staff Management:
  • Hire, train, and manage kitchen and housekeeping staff.
  • Estimate staff workload and foster a climate of cooperation and respect.
  • Provide ongoing training and upskilling opportunities.
  • Barista Station:
  • Supervise the barista station and manage stock levels.
  • Health and Safety:
  • Maintain kitchen cleanliness and comply with sanitation regulations.
  • Ensure the kitchen meets all health and safety guidelines and undergoes regular audits.
  • Uphold food hygiene practices and prioritize the safety of staff and customers.
  • Housekeeping:
  • Ensure cleanliness and hygiene standards are maintained in all areas of the building.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Events Management:
  • Assist in organizing and managing company events and functions.
  • Provide catering services for internal and external events as required.
  • General/Ad Hoc:
  • Provide weekly updates to management and maintain records of stock.
  • Possess strong leadership, communication, and time management skills.
Requirements:
  • Degree in Culinary science or related certificate.
  • Proven experience as a Head Chef.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Up to date with culinary trends and kitchen processes.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and health and safety regulations.
Remuneration:
  • R40 000 per month.
