Malander is seeking a talented Senior Finance Shipping Clerk for a client based in Cape Town. The Shipping Clerk forms an integral part of the Shipping team and is responsible for controlling all import documentation per consignment and ensuring correct documentation are sent to the clearing agent for clearance through customs. This role is crucial to the clients' operations, requiring a candidate who can effectively manage high volumes and work under tight deadlines.Key responsibilities:

Receive and record shipments upon receipt of import documentation;
Monitor and track all incoming shipments to ensure proper documentation and timely supplier payments;
Investigate and resolve any discrepancies related to imported goods;
Monitor forwarding agents' status reports for all incoming shipments to ensure timely delivery;
Process foreign payments using banking platforms;
Process and record local payments;
Prepare monthly costings;
Arrange weekly bookings and check in buyers' samples;
Reconcile related monthly general ledger accounts;
Journal entries to buyers' expense accounts for purchased samples;
File and maintain original shipping documents.

Qualifications:

Matric;
Appropriate qualification supporting the role.

Experience and Knowledge:

Minimum 3 years' experience as a Shipping Clerk or in a similar role;
Shipping finance experience;
Knowledge and understanding of import documentation and procedures;
Experience within a team dynamic;
Excellent working knowledge of MS Excel;
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry;
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines;
Excellent organisational and time management skills.
