Job Summary 6-month contract - Customs Entry Clerk based in Cape Town There is an opportunity to assist a reputable forwarding and clearing company with an exciting new project, as a customs clearance clerk. The successful candidate will be able to successfully • Frame courier entries daily and submit to Customs • Monitor any detains and customs stops • Prepare the documents for port health, plant inspector, customs stops • Manage all customs queries Main Responsibilities: • Review and quality check all documents in shipment file before submitting to SARS • Self-check work quality by checking all documents and ensure correct tariffing; details of check permits/DCC; check correct entries against correct commercial invoices, packing list etc • Assess legislative requirements (permits, rebates, certificates etc.) • Timeous submission of documents to SARS electronically or manually • Communicate any documentation discrepancies to operations execution team and escalate to team leader. • Daily follow up on documentation discrepancy issues which requires the ability to troubleshoot and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with operations team and escalate to supervisor • Confirm receipt and follow up for release with customs • Ensure the prompt distribution of release documentation to the business • Resolve finance and accounting reconciliation issues iro SARS • Alert the business on all customs stops and manage the customs examination process according to customs requirements to eliminate any customs penalties • Perform any other administrative functions relating to the position; o preparation and framing customs compliant import or export entries o framing VOC's o utilize customs tariff book to apply correct tariff heading o and any other non-standard customs requirements o comply with ACS policies and follow management/supervisors instructions Requirements: • Must be able to process DA306 and manifest submission to Customs and able to work in a degroup warehouse • Good knowledge of courier process and tar • Fast and accurate framing • Attention to detail Qualification and Experience: Matric: Essential 2-3 years' experience in framing courier entries: Essential Industry specific tertiary qualification: Beneficial Systems: Shipshape and Cargowise: Beneficial Experience in courier / e-commerce: Preferential Willing to be available outside of working hours - only when required : Essential If you meet the necessary requirements and believe that you can fulfil this role, do not hesitate to APPLY.
