Operations Manager - Cape TownFull job descriptionJOB SUMMARYEQ8 Recruit has been exclusively engaged by a dynamic South African retailer seeking to fill the position of Operations Manager in Cape Town, South Africa.The primary focus of this role is to spearhead the optimization and efficiency enhancement of our client's operational processes.The Operations Manager will serve as a vital link between top-level management directives and their implementation in day-to-day operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for translating high-level strategies into actionable plans, focusing on the specifics of “how”, the reasoning behind “why”, and the practical timing of these initiatives. Acting as a pivotal connection point between senior management and frontline operations, the Operations Manager is tasked with implementing core principles and ensuring their efficient implementation across the organisation.This pivotal role demands strategic vision, strong leadership capabilities, and a keen eye for identifying areas of enhancement within the operational framework.ABOUT OUR CLIENTOur client boasts a diverse product range available in both physical retail outlets and burgeoning e-commerce platforms and stands as a rapidly expanding entity with twelve outlets strategically positioned across major shopping centres in the Western Cape, South Africa.THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTThe successful candidate will oversee the seamless updating and improvement of operational strategies, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives and industry best practices. Central responsibilities include enhancing productivity, streamlining workflows, and fostering innovation across various operational facets.Summary of Required Skills and Competencies to be shortlisted: -5 years of operational experience in a Management position within the FMCG/Retail industry.While a degree or diploma in Operations Management, Business Management, and/or Business Administration would be advantageous, it is not required.Proven project and planning management experience, including conflict management, recruitment and selection, and communication strategy development.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and inventory control.Own reliable transport and a valid driver's license.Excellent organizational and leadership abilities.Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with diverse teams.Proficiency in numerical analysis and financial planning.Adherence to high ethical standards in professional conduct.Proactive decision-making and the ability to initiate necessary actions.JOB DESCRIPTIONThe role responsibilities will include, (but not limited to): -Translating top management's strategic vision into actionable plans and initiatives for the Operations department.Assisting the Area Manager in implementing operational plans, stepping into the role when necessary.Conducting annual department SWOT analysis and developing targeted strategies to improve store performance.Designing and implementing operational plans, including resource allocation, timelines, and performance metrics.Overseeing in-store management and operations.Oversee and guide the recruitment and selection process.Oversee and guide the performance management process.Ensuring company governance compliance.Design and implement robust training, learning, and development initiatives.Actively participate in in-store talent and leadership development.Actively participate in processes such as annual organogram reviews, job description management, salary scales oversight, and employee benefits administration.Please be advised that only shortlisted candidates that have the specific skills and experiences required to fulfil the responsibilities of the role will be contacted for a telephone interview by one of our consultants.
