The Operations Manager is a senior role that involves overseeing the provision of the transport services of the company. It is your job to make sure the organization is running as well as it possibly can, with a smooth efficient service that meets the expectations and needs of customers and high-end clients.   • Matric with 5+years of working experience in Operations and Management
  • Related Degree/Diploma
  • Computer Literacy - MSWord, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
  • Health and Safety
  • Valid Drivers License
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Be a good communicator in both English and Afrikaans
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities required:
  • Working experience in all facets of transportation systems
  • Mainframe computer software knowledge - related to record keeping.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, procedure manuals, inter-company memos/outside correspondence
  • Having 2-3 years of accounting, planning analytical, and/or reporting experience, in positions with increasing responsibility is preferred
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures
  • Understand financial statements and resulting cost implications
  • Have strong analytical and communication skills with proven ability to work within the framework of the team
  • Knowledge of logistics systems
  • Understand dispatch issues and procedures
  • An analytical mind and good numeracy skills
  • Good people management and coordination skills
  • Excellent financial acumen
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills
  • Good intuition to make crucial judgment calls
  • Big picture mentality
  • Ability to work with top corporate organisations and ability to be comfortable in meetings with them
Duties:
  • Direct and motivate Teammates
  • Report any accidents or unsafe conditions to Fleet and Safety Manager
  • Adhere to all compliance and safety standards
  • Maintain effective and timely scheduling of Supervisors, Regulators and Drivers
  • Open communication between various teams and management
  • Training
  • Enforce general company policies and issuance of coaching/disciplinary documentation to Operational staff
  • Productivity data
  • provide additional assistance with rojects and other activities as assigned
  • Preparing annual budgets and reports concerning the operation costs and present to the Management Board
  • Interacts with approved and authorised subcontractors and reports subcontracted work and costs for reconciliation and regular reviews by Operational Director
  • Oversees that supervisors carry out their set duties and that all controlled documentation is effectively completed and stored
  • Oversee and manage all general operational and logistic administration
  • Health and Safety
  • Promotes effective communication by holding regular meetings with the team and supervisors in accordance to the QMS.
  • Identifies areas of risk or improvement and proactively discusses such with executive-level
  • Effective support to Fleet Management
  • Regularly attend client/customer briefings and meetings that relate to the operational areas or needs of clients and ensure these are effectively minuted and filed Conduct regular visits to customers/clients to assess service delivery satisfaction - contract clients
  • Regularly carry out on-site inspections at the client and record any non-conformities as per the Quality Management System.
  • Strong negotiating and bargaining skills
