The successful candidate will report to the Distillery Manager.Key Performance Areas would include, but are not limited to:Maintain comprehensive quality control / assurance programme for the intrinsic laboratoryManage the routine Laboratory functionsAdhere to Best Laboratory PracticeEnsure that all analyses are performed according to correct methods and equipment is maintained properlyPurchasing of glassware, reagents and chemicalsEnsure availability of all procedures, specifications and methodsPlan all work through the Laboratory to ensure approvals are coordinated with production outputs.Ensure timeous reporting on non-conforming issuesApprove and reject materialsCompare analyses test results with relevant specificationsApprove or reject intrinsic materials utilizing procedures as prescribed by the Quality Management systemDrive the corrective action system through the proper use of the CPAR system.Assist with problem solving.Liaise internally and externally with suppliers of reagents and equipment.Manage Effluent Lab and reporting.Manage the Quality FTR of Site.Effective management of all Quality Systems and Food SafetyEffective management and completion of internal controls and related activitiesActive participation in internal and external AuditsEnsuring LIMS utilization throughout the siteActive participation in relevant TPM activitiesTraining of personnel on Quality control measuresManagement of test equipment to ensure on-time calibration and maintenanceCollecting and compiling statistical quality dataDevelopment of equipment Capex requirementsThe successful candidate must have the following attributes, qualifications, experience and skills:Relevant tertiary qualification – Nat. Diploma/Degree in Food Technology; Microbiology or equivalent2-3 years relevant experience in a Food and Beverage laboratory environmentSound knowledge of ISO 9001, FSSC 22000, HACCP, ISO 17025Computer literate with MS Excel, MS Office, Power Point, SAP, LIMS and LivelinkStrong numerical aptitude and analytical abilities are essential.Strong planning and organising skills.Must be a self-starter with the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.Have proven verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work effectively under pressureThe Company’s approved Employment Equity Plan and Targets will be considered as part of the recruitment process.
