Loom Tuner (Production Technician) - Elsiesrivier, WCFull job descriptionAfrica’s leading specialist in the manufacturing of premium knitted and woven mattress fabric based in Elsies River industrial is seeking to fill the role of Loom Tuner (Production Technician).Job SummaryAs a quick-thinking, ambitious Technician, our company will depend on you and your abilities to keep our operations, machines and equipment operating efficiently in terms of output and quality.Job RequirementsEE position:Preference will be given to previously disadvantage people.Qualifications and Experience:National Diploma: Mechanical Engineering or related field.+2 years’ mechanical and maintenance experience.+5 years production or manufacturing experience.Previous experience working with machines in a manufacturing environment preferably in a Weaving textile mill working with air jet looms and jacquard machines.Ability to learn from machine instruction manuals.Availability to work shifts including weekends & night shift.Familiarity with a variety of Loom types and configurations, including air jets and jacquard looms.Duties and Responsibilities, include but are not limited to the following:Production organizing on shift:Inspect, maintain, and repair industrial equipment and machinery to ensure they’re always in proper working order.Observe the operation of manufacturing machinery, paying attention to small details and symptoms to identify issues that need correcting, either an operator error or mechanical malfunction.Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and electronic components of loom machinery.Collaborate with production supervisors and operators to address any performance or quality issues related to loom operation.Test machines to confirm the presence or absence of issues, making recommendations for continued operation based on the results.Operate repaired machine to confirm it is fully functional.Evaluate the efficiency of each machine, making recommendations for practices or upgrades to improve output rates without compromising operator safety.Care for machinery and equipment by cleaning them after use, adjusting parts and lubricating moving components as needed to ensure proper, efficient function.Examine moving parts on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis for signs of excessive wear, defects, and damage.Conduct preventive maintenance on machines.Record all maintenance and repair services performed and keep track of all materials and parts used during the repair process.Request orders to be placed to replenish materials and parts when inventory grows low or is depleted.Study manufacturer manuals and blueprints and carefully follow directions when operating or setting up newly acquired machinery.Perform general housekeeping and creating a good housekeeping culture as per 5s standards.Compliance with Health and Safety regulations.Job Type: Permanent
