- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all tax-related transactions.
- Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations and ensure the organization's compliance.
- Prepare and maintain proper documentation for tax audits.
- Prepare accurate and timely tax returns (including VAT, PAYE, and corporate taxes) in compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Coordinate with the finance team to gather required financial data for tax return preparation.
- Conduct regular reviews and reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Develop and implement procedures to ensure ongoing compliance with tax laws and regulations.
- Review and assess the organization's tax-related processes and systems to identify areas of noncompliance or improvement opportunities.
- Provide guidance and support to other departments on tax-related issues and policies.
- Serve as the primary contact person for tax-related inquiries and correspondence with tax authorities.
- Coordinate and respond to tax audits, enquiries, and assessments.
- Identify and implement measures to resolve any tax-related disputes or issues.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in tax laws and regulations to identify opportunities for tax planning and optimisation.
- Provide advice and recommendations on tax planning strategies to optimize the organization's tax position while maintaining compliance.
- Work closely with the finance team and other relevant stakeholders to implement tax planning initiatives.
- A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Tax Compliance Officer or similar role.
- In-depth knowledge of South African tax laws and regulations.
- Proficient in tax return preparation and familiar with tax software.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to interpret and explain complex tax regulations to non-tax professionals.
- Ability to work independently and effectively prioritise tasks.
- Professional certifications preferred
