- N6 Technician (Electrical/Control and Instrumentation) Trade Test pass
- Wireman's license would be an advantage.
- 3 - 5 Years relevant experience within manufacturing / plant environment
- Experience within a 24-hour manufacturing plant, as part of the maintenance team (electrical & instrumentation).
- Experience will include plant maintenance C&I and electrical.
- Computer literacy essential.
- Be able to interact and communicate effectively on all levels.
- Root causing and troubleshooting of electrical, control & instrumentation systems as well as industrial networks.
- In depth knowledge of Schneider (Modicon 800, Quantum, M251, M340, M580) and Alan Bradley (RSLogix, ControlLogic) PLC's
- Knowledge of Modsoft 984 Ladder Logic programming
- In depth knowledge of Control Expert software and AVEVA Historian,
- Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition software programming experience, (Wonderware and WinCC)
- In depth knowledge of field instrumentation (temperature, flow, pressure, level etc) setup and calibration
- Knowledge of signal processing and loop checking
- Good knowledge of network architecture practices and industrial communication protocols (ModbusTCP/Ethernet IP)
- Proficient in low voltage installations, panel wiring and cable terminations in accordance with SANS 10142
- Knowledge of combustion systems is advantageous.
- Knowledge of VSD's/soft starters (Schneider range) - install, setup, fault finding.
- Knowledge of motors - install, setup, fault find, test.
- Knowledge of electro-pneumatic/hydraulic systems
- Knowledge of transformer operation and maintenance
- Design, read, interpret wiring diagrams.
- Computer proficient - MS office
- Must have own reliable transport.
- Project management skills - candidate should be able to work independently without supervision.
- Good communication skills, be able to effectively communicate plant risks and solutions (short term and long term) to management and peers.
- Be able to interact and communicate effectively on all levels.
- Be able to work in a multi-disciplinary team and occasionally train/guide less experienced personnel on E&I practices.
- Be able to do standby and callouts to site as required.
- Ensure smooth and efficient maintenance operation of Brakpan factory.
- Perform other tasks as specified by the E&I foreman.
- Maintain a high standard of discipline and adherence to company procedures and required safety standards.
- To inspect all sections of plant under your control daily, to assess the condition thereof and effect necessary repairs or maintenance.
- To do faultfinding on Scada, PLC systems and to improve plant efficiency by optimising the available
- Daily reporting of breakdowns/problems that happened on shift and filling in of required paperwork. (EWO, QK, Tags, etc.)
- To identify improvements in the process that could be made by modifying or replacement of plant and to bring such information to the attention of management.
- To inform plant management of all situations or conditions that could result in downtime and to take all such remedial action as is necessary to minimise downtime as a result thereof.
- Actively participate in PM projects to ensure there timeously completion.
- Minimise plant downtime by ensuring effective and efficient maintenance is carried out.
- To inspect all sections of the plant frequently and to assess demands that will be made on the E&I section, to action plans accordingly.
- To identify improvements in the process that could be made by modifying or replacement of plant and to bring such information to the attention of management.
- Assist with the generation of reports from scada system / sql server for production analysis as required by management.
- Programme, design and modify PLC, Scada and Industrial Computer network systems, and to assist in establishing and enforcing protocol for such systems.
- Assist laboratory with calibration of machinery.
- To inform plant management of all situations or conditions that could result in downtime and to take all such remedial action as is necessary to minimise downtime as a result thereof.
