Underpinned by a global footprint with local presence, we are a market-leading technology, engineering, construction and service partner for industrial plants and systems.Combining over 100 years of global experience with over 60 years of local African know-how, thyssenkrupp Uhde Africa is a specialist provider of a range of advanced chemical technologies and integrated, environmentally friendly EPC (Engineering, Processing and Construction) solutions and services.As an environmentally-responsible company, our vision is to create a livable planet through engineering green solutions.Your responsibilitiesThe successful candidate will be required to fulfil the job as summarised below, but not limited to:Technical Management of the Control & Instrumentation (C&I) Engineering Department ensuring all deliverables from the C&I dept are executed to the requisite quality and schedule as agreed and communicated to both internal and external stakeholders.Oversee the design and check/ approval of C&I engineering technical documents.Define and control the C&I Engineering gates ensuring all documents passing through are subject to the 4-eye principle.Document changes via the Design Change mechanism.Provide liaison between tk Uhde Project team/clients/contracts/authorities/licensor inter alia acting as a catalyst in anticipating and overcoming problems.Preparation of project standards, engineering and technical specificationReport on project progress to HOD EngineeringProvide input to HOD Engineering for manpower planning and technical assistance with recruitment of C&I engineers.The introduction and development of new ideas is an important aspect of the job to enhance design, services, policies and procedures.Execute cost effective estimates for professional services related to the C&I engineering department.Your profileEducationThe candidate must be in possession of a BSc/BEng Electrical/Electronic Engineering degree and be registered as a Professional Engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa.Work ExperienceShould have a minimum of 20 years` relevant design experience.Experience in Oil and Gas Environment is essential.Knowledge of and understanding of SABS / IEC / SANS standards.Knowledge of SANS 329 would be an advantage.Working knowledge of NEC would be an added advantage.Managerial skills are essential for this position.Project site experience including commissioning experience is advantageous.A strong skill set and experience in control systems is preferable.Additional RequirementsProficiency with MS Office suite and the use of software programs related to C&I Engineering Design and the preparation of technical specifications is also required.
