- Familiar with ISO9001, ISO14001 and IATF16949
- BSc Degree in Analytical Chemistry (Advantageous)
- 2 years working in the Automotive environment.
- Carry chemical and physical analysis of materials.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and perform routine maintenance.
- Collection of samples for testing as laid out in the lab procedures and work instruction.
- Daily sample collection and preparation for NMU.
- Testing and evaluation of lead and lead alloys by wet chemical methods, instrument techniques and physical testing as prescribed in the procedure.
- Testing and evaluation of water, incoming and diluted acid from the Plant.
- Testing and evaluation of raw materials, such as paste additive, paper, label separator and flux chemicals.
- Requalification of products testing as per customer requirement.
- Testing and evaluation of automotive batteries for performance requirements to lay down standards such as SABS, customer requirements and local requirements.
- Ability to work on ICP and Spectrometer.
- Analysis of failure modes on test cells and batteries.
- Analyse and interpret technical reports.
- Write daily and monthly technical reports and interpret results.
- Keep accurate records and maintain up-to-date documentation.
- Develop test methods and train staff.
- Able to perform tensile testing and cyclic voltammetry / EIS testing on the physical lab
- Establish standard chemical solutions.
- Maintaining cleanliness, workability, and safety of the working area, tools, instruments, apparatus and equipment used.
- Liaison with manufacturing personnel, supervisors, process engineers and product engineers.
