- Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice logistics vision, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance
- Overseeing Warehouse maintenance and Scheduled Deliveries
- Deliver solutions to logistics problems while maintaining high levels of quality and service within budgetary requirements
- Monitor quality, quantity, delivery times, and transport costs
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and identify inefficiencies and cost optimisation opportunities
- Ensure the integrity of inventory accuracy and manage stock movements with the help of direct reports (Warehouse Supervisor/s)
- Identify savings by removing waste or unnecessary steps in the logistics process
- Interpret trends and analyse and review data. Provide meaningful logistics data to others in the business to aid customer service and cost improvements
- Manage, coach and develop a high performing team that meets agreed objectives and delivers best practice results, added value and continuous improvement
- Set departmental objectives/KPIs and review and assess ongoing performance of direct reports
- Report on achievement of targets and identify any actions required
- Hold responsibility for department budget and ensure control on all expenses.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with all connected with the logistics process
- Ensure all completed orders are dispatched on time
- Ensure compliance with import/export regulations/customs regulations, where applicable, and legal and health & safety requirements.
- Comply with the Health, Safety and Environmental Policies
- Ensure that all functions under supervision operate in accordance with health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff and visitors
- Ensure that the operation of the warehouse meets with the ISO requirements
- Staff files to be updated and assessed regularly.
- A Formal qualification in Operations Management/Logistics
- Experience in steel industry is of critical importance
- Drivers License
- Strong Leadership skills
- A logical and systematic approach to work
- Good time management ability
- The ability to solve problems and make decisions, as well as think laterally and offer creative solutions
- Commercial awareness and numeracy skills
- Good computer literacy (MSOFFICE / SAGE system and/or other relevant IT system) and the ability to handle electronic data
- Ability to manage change
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well as part of a team, as well as manage people
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Negotiation and analytical skills
- A positive attitude to continued learning.
