Triton: Operations Manager - Cap TownFull job descriptionRESPONSIBILITIES:MANAGING OPERATIONAL STAFF BY:Recruiting, selecting, orientating and training staffMaintaining a safe and secure working environmentEnsuring legislative compliance in terms of Basic Conditions of Employment, Labour Relations, Employment Equity, Skills Development and safety, welfare and healthCommunicating job expectations and managing performanceCoaching, counseling, disciplining and handling grievancesAdministering staff matters, includes preparing and authorizing overtime schedules, preparing staff leave schedules, absenteeism and other HR Management / document requirementsMAINTAINING OPERATIONS SERVICE AND QUALITY STANDARDS BY:Monitoring inbound and outbound freight departures, collections, deliveries and arrivalsEnsuring timeous departure of all line haul vehiclesVerifying freight handling and the application of collection and dispatch proceduresDrafting operational proceduresVerifying data capturing procedures and processesTaking corrective action in terms of problems identifiedMonitoring and ensuring: on time delivery, actioning missed collections, data capturing errors are identified and corrected, productivity levels (collections, deliveries) by route / driver / collections clerk are maximized, effective POD capturing, 3rd party agent delivery and collection is undertakenAdministering / monitoring operations expenses including fuel consumption, vehicle service and mileage records, traffic violation fines, cargo and accident claims, freight discrepancies, etc.Handling inter-branch and customer queries / requirements by investigating, proposing solutions and taking corrective actionMaintaining operations assets including scanners, checking warehouse equipment and ensuring vehicle maintenance (repair and tyre requirements) also orders and maintains tyre repair stockChecking vehicle presentation, analyzing vehicle abuse and driver behavior & taking corrective actionEnsuring warehouse housekeeping is maintained REQUIREMENTS:Grade 12 (Matric) minimumDiploma In Road Transportation – or working towards such5/8 Years transport or freight operational experience, including 3 years in supervisory capacityKnowledge of road transportation in SABasic understanding of MS Word, Excel and OutlookLegislation (BCOE Act)Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act, Skills Development and Employment Equity ActIn depth understanding of freight operational processes Geographic understanding of area of operation and a detailed understanding of Transport ordinances and loading requirementsManagerial and interactive skillsCode 08 Drivers LicenseEnglish Language fluencyWillingness to consistently work long hours including weekends and be available for call outsIn depth understanding of freight processesGood time management – meeting specific deadlinesAttention to detail at all times – accuracySelf-motivatedAbility to motivate staffPresentable and of a professional manner at all timesReliableExcellent communication skillsOwn reliable transport to and from work
