As the People Lead at Houst, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our company culture, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment, and attracting, developing, and retaining top talent. You will be tasked with managing the People & Culture team, overseeing all aspects of human resources and talent management within the company. Your leadership will ensure that our team members are empowered to thrive and contribute effectively to our mission.Key Responsibilities:People Operations:
  • Oversee day-to-day HR operations, including payroll, benefits administration, compliance, and employee relations.
  • Ensure that HR policies and procedures are up-to-date and in compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Ensure all HR records and systems are accurate, to support efficient and effective HR processes.
Talent Acquisition:
  • Oversee the development and implementation of effective recruitment strategies to attract top-tier talent across various functions.
  • Monitor the end-to-end recruitment process, from job postings and candidate sourcing to interviews, offer negotiations, and onboarding.
Employee Engagement and Retention:
  • Design and execute initiatives to enhance employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention.
  • Conduct regular check-ins with senior leadership members to gather feedback, address concerns, and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and implement strategies to recognise and reward outstanding performance and foster a culture of appreciation and recognition.
Global Employment Law
  • Oversee all aspects of employment law compliance across multiple jurisdictions including the UK, South Africa, UAE, France, Portugal, Spain, Australia, and New Zealand.
  • Updating policies, ensuring legal compliance in diverse legal environments, and advising the management team on all related matters.
Performance Management:
  • Improve performance management processes, including performance improvement, performance and probation reviews, and career development planning.
  • Provide guidance and support to managers and team members on performance-related issues, including goal alignment, feedback, and professional development opportunities.
Learning and Development:
  • Identify learning and development needs across the organisation and design training programs to address skill gaps and support career growth.
Leadership:
  • Act as a point of escalation for ER cases with deeper complexity/severity.
  • Support People Advisors in managing complex and sensitive ER cases end-to-end, sharing insights and recommendations for development, and integrating key trends into strategic planning.
  • Lead, coach and upskill the People team responsible for providing a comprehensive People service company-wide.
  • Set aspirational development goals and performance measurement OKRs for the team to build continual growth and succession plans.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degree or HR certification preferred.
  • 4+ year’s proven experience in human resources, preferably in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Strong understanding of Global HR best practices, employment laws, and regulations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel to be able to produce reports.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with team members at all levels of the organisation.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities and business needs.
  • Passion for creating a positive work environment and supporting the professional growth and development of others.
