- Pre-feasibility to detailed port & coastal engineering feasibility studies, including designs and reporting.
- Concept up to detailed port & coastal engineering designs, technical specifications, capital and operational cost estimations.
- Evaluations and reviews.
- Preparation of proposals and winning work.
- Client liaison, managing teams and projects.
- Upholding standards for SHEQ performance and behaviour consistent with the company’s health, safety, environmental and quality vision and policies by influencing those around you.
- Contributing to the identification of SHEQ risks and driving processes to achieve Zero Harm.

- BSc Eng / BEng Civil Engineering degree.
- Post-graduate masters (MEng/MScEng) qualification in Port & Coastal Engineering is a requirement.
- 3 – 7 years’ relevant post graduate work experience, all in aspects of Port & Coastal Engineering
- Registration as Professional Engineer with ECSA will be an advantage.
- Experience in any of the following aspects of Port & Coastal Engineering will be an advantage:
- Experience with marine intake and outfall systems, including hydrodynamic on-bottom stability, hydraulic designs, diffuser configuration design and near-field modelling.
- Experience with design of coastal structures, e.g. revetments, breakwaters, shore protection and scour protection.
- Experience with evaluation of the coastal environment of a specific site, taking into account all local coastal processes (may include site reconnaissance).
- Experience in modelling/analysis of coastal processes and beach/nearshore morphology, e.g. to inform development setbacks and/or dredging requirements.
- Experience in coastal engineering and associated processes, e.g. assessments of extreme water levels (min/max), structure overtopping and wave loading.
- Experience in defining the environmental design conditions and interpretation of environmental parameters.
- Translation of numerical modelling results into representative design conditions to establish a basis of design.
- Experience in port planning and operations.
- Concept to detail design and construction drawing production on the type of projects mentioned above, demonstrating a deep understanding of the coastal processes involved in this work.
- Experience in coastal engineering and other software tools will be an advantage:
- AutoCAD Civil3D, Revit, BIM
- UNIBEST-CL+, XBEACH or similar (shoreline models, storm erosion models)
- Modelling software such as SWAN, Deltares Delft-3D and DHI Mike
- Orcaflex
- Key competence in digital engineering and computer proficiency using MATLAB / PYTHON to facilitate designs.
- Knowledge and demonstrated experience in using coastal design guidelines and standards, e.g. Rock Manual, CEM, DNV, BS codes, EuroTop.
