Role Purpose:
A Construction foreman ensures everything goes smoothly at a construction site. They are responsible for being the point of contact between the construction workers and supervisors. A few of the main duties of a foreman are coordinating tasks for the day, creating schedules for workers, overseeing quality on-site, and managing costs. They also must report the progress of the project to superiors.Required Qualifications:
  • Matric or equivalent qualification.
  • Any additional relevant certification will be considered an advantage .
Required Experience:
  • 5 years experience in civil works.
Required Skills:
  • Ability to read and understand technical documents, drawings, and construction documents.
  • Understanding of proper safety procedures and recognition of hazards.
  • Excellent knowledge of construction operations and equipment .
  • Good time-management skills.
  • Good numeracy skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Planning, scheduling (programming), and administration of sites/projects.
  • Has excellent oral & written communication in English and interpersonal skills.
Other requirements:
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to travel as and when required.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Resilience - being able to handle complaints and conflict.
  • The ability to work as part of a team.
  • Be self-driven & pro-active.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Daily running of site activities.
  • Stock Control.
  • Carry out visual inspections of work in progress and work completed.
  • Prioritize, plan, implement, and manage construction tasks.
  • Ensuring Deadlines are met.
  • Produce daily and weekly planning schedules regarding resources (labour, materials, and plant).
  • Manage and monitor employee attendance and work.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant safety regulations.
  • Manage and guide the use of machinery, equipment, and operators.
  • Monitor expenditures.
  • Peacefully resolve any emerging problems and issues on site within a team context.
  • Allocate and delegate responsibilities.
  • Supervise, train, and give feedback to subordinates.
  • Measure progress against the approved programme.
Exposure in services such as concrete works, sewerage, storm water and water systems, underground services and pipeline work is essential..
