- Develop and maintain project cost control specific procedures, work practices, plans, systems and protocols to enable efficient work and maintain a consistent approach and high standard of work.
- Efficient ongoing maintenance of the project cost control system.
- Real-time and timely preparation of project cost and progress reports.
- Timely and accurate reporting of control budgets, forecasts and cost commitments.
- Make certain that clients and internal customers are given the highest level of service, making the most efficient use of company resources.
- Ensure the quality of output of the allocated cost control teams, and that they are aligned with the needs of the project / study, the company objectives and meets the requirements of the client.
- Establish the requirements for each project with regards to scope of services, organisation, job specific procedures and cost reporting requirements, with the Project Management Team.
- Provide support and input to proposals, presentations and other business development activities as required.
- Prepare budgets for proposals as required.
- Set up Cost Reports for projects and ensure that they are kept up-to-date/live.
- Support the client invoicing process - ensure invoices are generated, reviewed and sent to clients timeously, follow up on payment.
- Maintain relevant income and expenditure records for each project.
- Analyse project expenses and provide reporting and commentary.
- Maintain project-related records, including contracts and change orders.
- Review account totals related to project assets and expenses.
- Investigate project variances and assist with resolution of variances where applicable.
- Provide accurate, regular reports to Project Management / Management regarding project budgets and finances.
- Investigate and report on expenses which are not billed to clients; with recommendations on write-offs and/or recovery of expenses.
- Supervise the close out of project accounts upon project completion.
- Maintain accurate accounts and ledgers in accordance with Finance best practice and processes.
- Participate in and assist with audits.
- Relevant Tertiary-level qualification, preferably in Cost Engineering or Quantity Surveying.
- Proven experience in project control.
- Up to 5 years in a similar role
- Cape Town based.
- South African Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Solid technical aptitude, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision whilst consistently producing a high quality of deliverables, within budget and schedule constraints.
- Demonstrate proficiency with the Microsoft suite of software packages, including Word, Excel, and Power Point
- Proven ability to build and maintain positive relationships with all stakeholders, including clients, contractors, vendors and co-workers.
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, particularly in English
- Proven ability to produce accurate and professional complex, technical documentation.
- Proven ability to produce sound finance, project and technical reports.
- Demonstrate the ability to work efficiently in a team and knowledge sharing environment.
- Demonstrate good interpersonal skills and a practical approach to problem-solving.
- Self-motivated with excellent organisational and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage multiple and varied tasks while ensuring attention to detail.
