Procurement Manager / Purchasing Manager

A company in Ottery, Cape Town is looking for a Procurement/purchasing manager.Duties & Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates and understands customs and beliefs of various groups or cultures and understands how these differences affect performance and communication.
  • Provides continuous feedback to the Supply Chain Manager on the efficiency of supply and progress against order requirements.
  • Evaluates and report on progress against the plan and provide solutions to problems/ obstacles that may arise.
  • Safety stock management with suppliers to reduce cash flow output to company beforehand and reduce supplier PO changes.
  • Motivates and manages the team to deliver through the consistent and ongoing application of the performance management system
  • Reports on adherence to plan (OTIF)
  • Supports Vendor Management team with supplier performance and efficiency ratings below par.
  • Management of supplier base in terms of quality rating, OTIF, defect rates, adherence to stock level management, PO cycle, technology, innovation, reporting, and lead time management.
  • Consistent evaluation on how to improve the purchasing cycle within parameters given of working capital.
  • Proactively seeks out new opportunities to save costs on incoming raw materials and packaging.
Desired Experience & Qualification
  • Preferred 3+ years in procurement for companies with Polymer components.
  • International auditing experience would be to your advantage.
  • Solid understanding and knowledge of BRC, GMP, Quality Assurance, and regulatory principles in a food/polymer manufacturing environment.
  • Solid understanding of Quality Management Systems.
  • Experience in supplier management, focused on performance or effectiveness improvement.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions based on judgment and integrity.
  • Proven analytical skills and ability to transfer findings into well-written report formats.
  • Experience/training in problem-solving and process improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to work effectively independently and with others to accomplish goals in a challenging environment.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrates high levels of accountability and adaptability in delivering KPIs.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment and balanced decision-making.
  • Strong drive to deliver work of an exceptional standard despite time pressure and constraints.
  • Strong ethical framework and integrity.
  • Good oral & written communication skills.
  • High levels of self-motivation
